Artists Bio
Mary Jo Mann is a native Oregon who draws from her experience growing up in Oregon’s beautiful Willamette Valley. The natural world and our human connection with it is often the starting point for her work.
Her recent painting explores the marks that elements such as air, water, light and wind make upon the earth. Accidental marks such as drips, and splashes along with strong gestures create pathways through her compositions.
Concern for environmental and climate issues led her to incorporate making her own paints using natural earth pigments into her painting practice. She is currently a member of Gallery 114, an artist collective in Portland, Oregon and enjoys travel to art residencies as a means to discover new landscapes.
